A series of conversations in the exhibition SUNLIGHT: Roger Ackling with curator Amanda Geitner. On Thursday 22 August, Amanda will be joined by Dr Lydie Rekow-Fond. Lydie is a writer and curator, she currently teaches General Culture, Art History and Aesthetics at the School of Fine Arts of Digne-les-Bains, France, and is a researcher in Contemporary Art associated with the CIEREC of St-Etienne and the LaRCGL of Meknes (Morocco), where she is a Visiting Professor. Lydie has written a monograph on Roger Ackling, The Invisible Appears. Tickets include admission to the museum. Unveiled in 2023, there's a new blue plaque just up the road from Cromer Museum on Church Street. Have you seen it yet? We'll be exploring the life and work of Alfred Savin, who appears on this plaque, lokking at some of his writign and collections. We'll also look at the story of another notable Cromer figure, Ana Gurney. Alfred Collison Savin (1860-1948) lived in Beach Road, Cromer. He had many interests & wrote one of the definitive histories of Cromer, 'Cromer in the County of Norfolk' It is believed he made this carving of a dog's head in jet.

A creative workshop exploring some examples of scrimshaw and sailor's artwork in the collection. We will look at objects and learn about how sailors passed their time on the ship before having a go at making our own designs inspired by the artworks.

What's the link between a seagull and a t-rex? We'll be exploring some of the creatures closely linked to dinosaurs. Norfolk Wildlife Trust Volunteers will be on site with interesting activities about birds and animals we see today and we'll be looking at how they compare to our ideas of dinosaurs.

As a May Bank Holiday special, Art Attack will run on Monday 27 May as part of The Big Bank Holiday Boogie. All other Art Attack sessions typically run on select Sunday afternoons.
