Change Your Cookie Preferences

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer or mobile device by the websites that you visit.

Cookies are widely used in order to make websites work more efficiently, and/or enhance the user experience, as well as providing information to the owners of the site (ie for making customer-focused improvements to the site).

The following information covers how our sites use cookies, and how to disable them if you wish.

If you disable cookies, it may prevent you from using some of the features on our websites (eg completing some of our online forms), or it may prevent us from collecting enough data to identify where we need to improve our site (eg Google Analytics).

We do not collect personal information through cookies.

Any information we collect via cookies is used anonymously, simply to improve our online services and enhance your experience of our websites. We will not use the information to identify individuals or share it with anyone else.

To find out more about cookies, including how to see what cookies have been set on your computer or mobile device, and how to manage and delete them, visit the About Cookies website.

See the table below for more information about our use of cookies at Norfolk County Council.

Please note that the following third parties may use cookies, over which we have no control. These named third parties may include, for example, advertising networks and providers of external services like web traffic analysis services. We have also noted which cookies are third party above:

YouTube. You can find more information about how YouTube uses your personal information here: How YouTube protects data privacy - How YouTube Works

International Transfers

For providers such as Google (who provide the Google Analytics, Google Signals and Tag Manager), YouTube, information will be transferred outside of the UK, namely to the United States of America. For Google Analytics IP address information is not logged or stored. Analytics drops IP address from EU users before logging that data via EU domains and servers. These transfers are subject to an adequacy decision, in the form of the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (DPF). Find out more about DPF.

You can reject non-essential cookies by using the Cookie Control tool on this website (the green circle button on the bottom left of the screen). You may also be able to disable cookies within your internet browser settings. Please note, if you block all cookies (including essential cookies) the website may not work as intended.

Useful information

  • A number of websites provide detailed information on cookies, including AboutCookies.org and AllAboutCookies.org.
  • The European Interactive Digital Advertising Alliance website Your Online Choices allows you to install opt-out cookies across different advertising networks.
  • Google has developed a browser add-on to allow users to opt-out of Google Analytics across all websites which use it. This is also available in the Chrome web store.
  • Some browsers include a feature known as 'Do Not Track' or DNT. This allows you to indicate a preference that websites should not track you. However, whilst DNT is available in many browsers, websites are not required to recognise its request, so it may not always work. You can get help on how to use DNT in Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari and Opera.
  • For more information on how private browsing works as well as its limitations, visit the support pages for your browser: Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari (mobile and desktop) and Opera.

We may amend this Cookie Policy at any time so please review it frequently. The date below will be amended each time this notice is updated.
