Gressenhall Community: Tree Nursery Volunteer
At Gressenhall Community Tree Nursery, volunteers and community groups are working together to grow trees that will be planted across Norfolk, contributing to a greener future.
Tree seeds are collected from nearby woodlands and hedgerows to help maintain local genetic diversity. These seeds are then nurtured by our dedicated volunteers, planted, cared for and grown into strong saplings ready for planting.
Our nursery is more than just a space for growing trees - it's a community hub where people come together to learn, share and inspire others to take action in their own community. With funding from HM Government through the Trees Outside Woodland programme, we are creating a lasting impact on Norfolk's environment.
Volunteering: Grow with us!
Join us in growing trees and making a difference! Our Community Tree Nursery at Gressenhall Farm and Workhouse is always looking for passionate volunteers to help us with all stages of growing trees from seed collection to preparing the grown trees for planting.
By volunteering with us, you're not only helping to grow trees but also inspiring others through educational activities for schools and community groups, as well as engaging with visitors. Our tree nursery is a key part of the environmental hub being developed at Gressenhall.
We hold regular volunteering sessions every Thursday from 10am to midday, with opportunities to participate in additional events and volunteer activities at other times.
What to expect
The nursery is based at the farm site at Gressenhall museum, with most activities taking place at the nursery itself. However, some activities such as seed collection and planting will take place at other sites.
